Misc. Updates

Well, we have some updating to do. First, we have had a wonderful holiday season in worship and teaching the boys about Jesus and His birth, but also, just having some family so close to be with during the holidays. We did enjoy not being so busy with all of the planning of church holiday activities.

Second, I mentioned a while back about a Flickr account. Well, I have no access to uploading pictures on high speed internet so that is on hold until I have that access. BUT I will continue to post pictures here on the blog.

Third, I have been reading since we moved here and this is my update:

God is the Gospel by John Piper. I am unsure if I gave a review, so I will here. A great book about the gospel. If you want to dig deeper and have a better understanding about what is the gospel then pick up this book and read it. 5 stars

Christ the Lord, Out of Egypt by Anne Rice. I had been interested in reading this book ever since I first heard about it, but never was ready to spend the money on it while in hardback. After moving here, my brother bought it for me, and I read it pretty quickly. Definitely fiction and she takes some of the apocryphal accounts that are rejected by most of the evangelical community, but she does an excellent job of speculating of what Christ's life may have been like. Great reading to help you think critically and remember that Jesus was a real person. 4 stars

DL Moody by Bonnie Harvey. A great short biography that, in such a short read, really brings you into Moody's life and decisions. A man who was greatly used of God that also greatly changed our world. If you tend to the reformed side of evangelicalism this will be a great read to bring you more understanding of the ministries of those who are not. 4 stars

For Your Joy by Desiring God Ministries. This is a great introduction to Christianity. If you are looking to give a gift to someone who is in the process of seeking Christ or is a new believer then this is the book to give. It is a very short book but it goes much deeper than the 4 Spiritual Laws or the Eternal Life tract. Great resource for any church, plus if you are a small church and can't afford the cost of a whole case then Desiring God Ministries will give you the books free. 5 stars

Ministry Update:
We are still waiting to hear from 3 churches. Each church contacted me for sermon tapes within about 2 weeks time. I have yet to interview with any of them, but once one church contacts us then we will take things one church at a time. Locations of the three churchs are Odessa, TX, Dallas, TX and Shrewsbury, PA. Please pray that we will have discernment for the Lord's will during this process. We do not desire to be anywhere but where the Lord would have us to be.
