Conflict in the SBC?

I hear there is some conflict in the Southern Baptist Convention. What is it about?

Besides the politics, there are those who say the SBC is doing ministry like it was still the 1950s and continuing down that road will get us nowhere. Others have said that the way most churches do ministry is like ignoring the desperate cries of the needy headed straight to destruction.

I wonder if what most churches miss is the need for community among people? I know that the ministry is a lonely place, but what about the rest of the world? Are people really that satisfied with the life they are living? Are they really satisfied with walking through the long dark hallways we call life by themselves with no one to bear their burdens with them?

What does our world need that the church should be able to offer? Is the church providing this for their own people?
